Dress Code
Hobe Sound Elementary seeks to promote a positive school environment which will enhance the instructional program and enable all students to focus on the school’s basic education mission, while minimizing concerns for safety, peer pressure, disruption or discipline. Because of the increase of violence and disruption in schools nationwide, a dress code has been adopted for our school.
Mandatory Dress Code for Hobe Sound Elementary the 2007-2008 school year:
-
Pants, shorts, skirts, or jumpers in navy or khaki. Shorts, skirts, and jumpers may be no shorter than extended fingertips. Blue denim is allowed only on Fridays (or last
school day of the week). Overalls are not permitted.
- Collared shirts in light blue, navy, light yellow (not gold), or white (Monday through Thursday). All shirts must be worn tucked in. No logo is required on collared shirts. Collared shirts with the HSE logo may be worn.
- Mandatory dress code must be followed on all field trips.
- Spirit shirts may be worn on Friday or the last day of the week (i.e. the Tuesday before Thanksgiving).
- Outerwear for colder weather can be worn. Once students are in class, solid color (yellow, white, navy) sweaters or sweatshirts may be worn. No logos or patterns; must be solid in color. No plaid shirts. Outerwear may not be oversized or excessively baggy.
Long sleeve polo in the
white, yellow, dark blue, or light blue maybe worn. Long
sleeve t-shirts or turtleneck may be worn under short sleeve
polos. These are acceptable as long as they are plain and in
the white, yellow, or blue colors. Consider purchasing a
heavier pair of khaki or navy blue slacks for colder weather
as jeans are not permitted on any day but Friday.
- Closed-toe shoes must be worn (No sandals, flip-flops or open back shoes will be allowed).
We feel very strongly that your child will benefit from this dress code.
