First round play begins at 2:40. Second round play begins at 3:15. Teams accumulate points in the following ways: 5 participation points for each player wearing their team shirt, 2 points for every player without team shirt, 1 bonus point for each player wearing clothing with a place for their second ball on their serve (example – pockets or tights). Players with un-tucked shirts slowing match play will lose the bonus point. In addition to participation points, players score 1 point for their team for each game won in a 30-minute match. Games will be no – add (first player or doubles team to win 4 points win the game) Points accumulate throughout the season.
TENNIS RULES
Players or parents should contact their captain anytime they plan to be late or cannot make it. Captains should call to remind their players about matches and seek volunteers to provide healthy drinks following matches. (It will be hot)
Players will meet in the covered play area on match days. Parent volunteers will provide transportation to Reed Park and South County Park. Parents will bring cars to the south parking lot by the kindergarten wing of HSE and we will leave immediately after busses depart at 2:15. We can also transport players back to extended day or Boys and Girls Club as needed with parental permission. Parents need to arrange to have players picked up by 3:45 at the Reed Park and South County Tennis Courts.
All players should wear light shorts with pockets for the extra ball. They must also wear safe shoes. Shirts must be tucked in. Unsafe shorts are unacceptable. Players should remember to put on sun block and bring cold water. We will provide balls and can provide rackets if needed.
